A Tip for Increased Confidence
Apologies to those that clicked onto this post hoping for some advice on how to hold your own in high powered business meetings or infront of the ladies. I had something a little different in mind.
For those who serve well as deacons gain a good standing for themselves and also great confidence in the faith that is in Christ Jesus. 1 Timothy 3:13
Paul finishes a list of qualifications for Pastors and Deacons in the church with thise verse. I’d not noticed it before until spotting it during a sermon recently preached by Ronnie Evans in the Acts series.
Paul suggests that one benefit of serving God and his people wholeheartedly is great confidence, not in ourselves, but in the faith that is in Jesus.
What does this mean?
Allow me to speak from my own experience. The times in my life where I find myself desperately seeking to serve him are the times that not only do I feel a greater closeness in my relationship with God, but they are also the times when I have seen God work most powerfully. Conversely, as I withdraw from God, I feel my confidence in him waning.
There is nothing like closeness with God and witnessing him work powerfully to increase your confidence in the saving work of Jesus and his desire to work powerfully through the Church today.
And wholeheartedly serving God brings that.
