Proof of Death

George Bernard Shaw, following in the footsteps of Sinclair Lewis, once challenged God to strike him down in order to prove the existence of the divine. He gave God three minutes, much less than the ten minutes proffered by Lewis, as he declared that he was ‘a very busy man’.

Three minutes passed, and God did not kill George Bernard Shaw.

Jesus was once asked for a sign to prove his identity as the Son of God. He offered one sign; “I’ll be crucified for the world and then three days later, I’ll rise from the dead”1.

God didn’t prove his existence by killing George Bernard Shaw. He proved it by dying for him.
